Kaosarn

This project began with a simple principle: good materials deserve more than one story.

A mirror originally sourced for a residential interior found its second life in a Thai restaurant in Tooting, Kaosarn, becoming an anchor for a refreshed space shaped by warmth and personality. A former residential console table was reimagined as a central feature table, subtly organising the room and giving the layout balance.

Reclaimed wood introduced texture to the live cooking wall, while existing tables and school chairs left by the previous owner were reused. A DIY banquette backrest, paired with aluminium corrugated sheet, adds a contemporary edge, an honest mix of craft and improvisation that reflects the spirit of independent hospitality.

At a time when small venues face real cost pressures, every resource carries value. This project demonstrates how thoughtful reuse can support both budget and identity, proving that great design does not always begin with something new, sometimes it begins with recognising the potential of what already exists.
